Mercy Macharia, BSW, RSW, MMFT Candidate

Mercy Macharia is a Registered Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapy program candidate with over a decade of experience in mental health, trauma, and community healing. She founded Heart Centred Healing & Counselling Therapy, where she offers culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care to individuals, families, and communities.

Mercy currently provides therapy services in Northern First Nations communities, working in partnership with local leadership and Elders to support healing through a Two-Eyed Seeing approach that honours both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing (Elder Albert Marshall, 2004).

Her practice is grounded in empathy, cultural humility, and a deep belief that everyone has the potential to heal when connected to the proper and adequate supports. Mercy holds certifications in project management, clinical supervision, Health Care Aide and palliative care, and brings a strengths-based, client-centred lens to all her work.

In addition to her clinical work, Mercy serves as a Regional Representative for Black Mental Health Canada and volunteers in leadership roles across several non-profit organizations. When not working, she enjoys spending time on her small farm, caring for animals, staying active, and being with her family and friends.
