Art Therapy Workshops

For many, particularly Indigenous peoples, traditional art forms like beading, weaving, carving, painting, drum-making, and ribbon skirt creation carry deep cultural significance. These practices offer not only a therapeutic outlet for processing trauma, grief, and loss but also a way to reconnect with cultural identity, spirituality, and ancestral wisdom.
Incorporating rituals and spiritual elements, such as smudging or ceremonial practices, allows individuals to engage in mindful self-reflection and to seek balance and harmony in their lives. This is particularly meaningful when addressing the impacts of intergenerational trauma and colonization, offering a way to heal through preserving and celebrating cultural traditions.

Play Therapy
Play therapy is a powerful tool for younger children to express their emotions and experiences, using play to communicate and process their world.
We combine traditional Indigenous games and modern play therapy tools into our counselling services, offering a culturally sensitive and holistic approach to mental health and well-being. Indigenous games, rich in tradition and teachings, provide valuable opportunities for children, individuals, and groups to engage in healing practices that foster emotional regulation, self-identity, community connection, and personal growth. These games honour the wisdom and resilience of Indigenous cultures and serve as powerful tools for building trust, improving mindfulness, and promoting teamwork within therapeutic settings.
Alongside these traditional practices, we utilize modern play therapy tools such as sand trays, puppets, art supplies, therapeutic board games, and interactive storytelling to meet each child’s unique needs. Digital tools, such as apps designed for emotional regulation and mindfulness, are also integrated when appropriate, helping children engage with therapy in ways that feel familiar and accessible.
